BREAKING MY SILENCE EVERYONE READ!!!
by D8TA inas ive made it known on this board, my current status with the watchtower bible and tract society is that of inactive.
this is a loophole i have utilized, to keep an open channel of communication with family members in the organization.. i want to clarify with everyone: i do not hold any doctrinal ideas, theology, ideology, opinions expressed in any form by the wtbts.
therefore, to simply put, i do not believe in the wtbts in any way, shape, or form.

Divided Households
by Lost Diamond ini'm kind of new here...i don't post much, but i read the board almost daily.
i have a question that maybe some of you might be able to answer, or at least give me some suggestions.
i am divorced and have custody of 2 beautiful, well-behaved children, ages 9 & 6. their father is a jw and i have drifted away, so i could say i'm mostly out of the org.. when they are with me we do not go to meetings, but when they see their father every other wkend they go meetings with him and his wife, and sometimes to service.. i have read that many of you were brought up in a divided household where one parent is a jw and the other is not.

Thank you all for you comments & suggestions. I agree with all of you and it makes perfect sence.
I never ever bad mouth their father and I reminde them that he loves them very much. I constantly tell them that they are my top priority and they're at the "top of my list". My youngest constantly reminds me, "Mommy, it's because we're on top of your list, hu?" I strongly reasure her that they are. I'm able to speak to my 9 yr. old a little more in depth and I remind him that they are what matters most in my life.
I too believe that reassuring them with words and lots of affection will go a long way in their lives. This has molded them to be pretty good children...the ladies at day care are always telling me what great kids I have and how well behaved they are...I am very proud of them and I tell them this whenever I get a compliment about them. I could'nt have asked for better children!!
I could tell they get to feeling guilty when they do holiday artwork, but I tell them it's good practice and it teaches them art...there is nothing wrong with a tree, or spiders, or rabbits...etc. I just don't want them growing up feeling confused, but to realize there are choices in life. I hope I can make them see this, and hopefully they can grow up to make the right kind of choices for a happy and fulfilling life.
Thanks again for all your comments!

I have read that many of you were brought up in a divided household where one parent is a JW and the other is not. How has this affected you...emotionally? What do you all suggested I could do so my kids do not feel as though they are being pulled apart? If you had to go back, what do you wish you non-JW parent would have done, or not have done? How do you wish they would of approached holidays? I could easily do without out them, myself....
I would really appreciate your input, since this is all very new to me.
Thanks!!

New Book - Awakening of a Jehovah's Witness
by Stacey ini posted several months back about a book that i knew of that was being released in 2002. it was written by a women who was in the congregation that i grew up in.
she was an elder's wife and i grew up with her daughter who is my age.
the book has been published and released and is on bookstore shelves now.

Stacey,
I have also read Awakening of a JW by Diane Wilson. I'll have to agree with ConnieLynn and say it's an easy read and quite accurate.
I do feel, though, that she had a lot of personal problems connected to the trauma that she went through when she was younger. I believe this added to her frustration with the WTS...so some things she wrote about were a little too exaggerated for me. But, I did enjoy reading it.

A prayer that never made it
by Dogpatch ini was cleaning out some drawers and found this little note from the bethel family for me to say the morning prayer on jul 24th.
i left before i got to it.

Dogpatch,
Doesn't this bring back some bitter-sweet memories, though?
I imagine when you have lived at Bethel and then left with a bitter feeling, it's probably like a marriage gone bad...I mean, you must of kept this note for a reason.

Just for fun...
by Salud ini know this is not jw related but i thougt it would be fun to get a laugh and a look at how we think.... 44 questions from george carlin.
1. why does the sun lighten our hair, but darken our skin?.
2. why can't women put on mascara with their mouth closed?.

I speak from experience: There is nothing worse than being married and feeling lonely. I really feel sorry for those that stay in a marriage because they are JW's and "can't divorce". What a waste of life!! If there is no love in the marriage...then it's not a marriage. Your'e basically just roomates...how sad.
There are many great and wonderful people who are not JW's that have wonderful qualaties.

nativenyr23,
In my opinion, I would stay clear away from them!! They are very similar to the JW's, with almost the same mind control techniques. It's them versus everybody else. Women are perceived as less than man and should only stay home and raise the kids....they shun women from advancing in a career and rather see women as the Betty Crocker's of America. There are very nice people in the LDS church, just like there is in the WTS, but their beliefs are very structured and controlling....please be careful!! -

I just moved out of SLC in 1998, and I lived there for about 15 years. I'm sorry to hear your wife is getting involved with the Mormons. They are wacky as they come!! A lot of their views on family and women reminded me of the Witnesses and they also believe they have the "truth"...to put it in shorter terms, there is a lot of mind control there as well! They even get baptized for the dead! Be very careful with that bunch! If you don't mind telling me, what cong. did you go to?gsx1138,
The Mormons have what they call ex-communication. I understand that is like being DF'd.
